pantone color of the year: Radiant Orchard

PANTONE-ORCHID-LIPSDo you love purple? It wasn't a hue that's been on my radar but I'm now convinced that it's the most stunning and lush colour since the announcement of "Royal Orchid: Pantone Color of the Year 2014" in early January.

According to the Pantone Color Institute (yes, it's an institution) the colour is:

captivating, magical and enchanting Radiant Orchid. An invitation to innovation, modern and versatile Radiant Orchid encourages creativity and originality. Imbued with a harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and its rosy undertones emanate great joy, love and health.

I'm not sure if I buy all the marketing speak, but it has changed my mind on the colour purple. What are your thoughts?

Did you know that when moving into a new home, hanging artwork is one of the last things that people consider or not do at all? I have to admit that I am one of those people as I'm staring at blank wall right now

In my search for some interesting prints, I recently stumbled across these cool customised designs by Sydney based designer Hayley Pankhania from Ollipop. For $49 there's a lovely selection of illustrations to choose for the home, children's room and even for your pet dog or cat complete with moggy's name. Hayley can even adjust colours to suit a particular colour scheme. So now there's no excuse for naked walls
