'paint the town Ford' challenge : weekend getaway

Title

It's a blogger's life for me. Creating can be in a cafe, posting can be in pyjamas, photography can be in tracky dacks, bad hair day can last all day and the housework can be achieved in between. It’s a good life but there is a downside; long hours, working alone and a house that is perpetually littered with semi-complete diy projects (sorry family). Luckily it’s my dream job, but even a dream job requires a weekend off

Ford came to our rescue again (see the first article here) with the use of a Ford Kuga Titanium for six weeks as part of Go Make Me's nomination in the Kidspot Voices of 2014. She took the three of us,  Sunny our recuperating puppy and so much luggage (enough for a month rather than a weekend). It was really easy to pack as there was loads of room and a wave of your foot opens the tailgate without digging for the key in the bowels of your handbag. This is good, believe me! She navigated our directions to wine country in The Hunter Valley and played our favourite play list from our phone just by asking. She may be my new bff.

Are you working too hard? Do you need a weekend away? Perhaps two days of scenic countryside, delicious food and great wine? If not this weekend, let us take you to the vines to inspire you to take some time off too

FYI: The video demonstrates a 'typical' blogging workday using some a lot of artistic licence! I've featured a French linen inspired knitted coaster diy and it shows that it came together in mere hours in the video. In reality, a diy like this project takes closer to two to three weeks to develop

Over the weekend we hit the road at dawn to catch the kangaroos in the vineyards. With air temperature at 4oC, the leather heated seats were extremely welcoming. Have a look at the video, there's one huge roo bouncing right next to the car. I was so bummed that he's out of focus. I was freaking out that he would hit the car as he bounded right in front of us. Disclaimer: No Roos or Kugas were harmed in the making of the video!

When in need of inspiration, the Hunter Valley always serves fine wine and food. We were so excited to make our way to Esca Bimbadgen restaurant in the heart of wine country for lunch. When on the road it was so easy making a booking using the Ford Kuga Titanium's SYNC technology. I simply pressed the button on the steering wheel and told SYNC to call 'Esca' (restaurant) without taking my hands off the stering wheel

It was a tough decision with menu selection so we chose tasting plates with matching wines. My White Tasting Plate was Jurusalem Artichoke Soup (see below), Spatchcock Terrine and Garden Pea Creme Brulee described with the following ingredients: broad beans, pea sponge, pea mint custard and pea crumble. We also sampled the Crispy Pork Belly with Hang Lae, pickled garlic and peanut crumble. Jealous much?

With our precious cargo safely packed in the back (including a case of red) we headed back home very refreshed and ready to get back into the week. The only refueling required all weekend was to our bellies and wine cellar. Happiness
