hidden lemon curd and cream cheese cakes recipe

Lemon-curd-custard-cakes

>Have I mentioned that lemon yellow is my favourite colour? Perhaps too many times! It's radiance pops up everywhere in our house...towels in the bathroom, crockery in the cupboard or blooms on the sill. Even our dog is a golden caramel. Of course the colour matches my sunny disposition ;) (pewk, I know!)

It's blowing a gale in Sydney today with no sign of sunshine. Right now I'm warming my hands from the glow of the computer screen. A few days ago, when the weather was much happier and warmer, we photographed these sweet little cakes. They're stuffed with delicious lemon curd and wee chunks of philly cheese. Previously, I made a fresh raspberry version and you can get the recipe here. The cake itself is made with custard powder which gives it a beautiful golden hue. I made the little sugar flowers from royal icing, using flower cutters and forming them into shape. You can simply add store bought flowers if you wish. I've made these so many times with great success but they need to be eaten within 24 hours (as if you needed an excuse). See the recipe below

French inspired knitted coasters diy and video

Knitted-french-coaster-in-chinese-wave

Do you love to knit? To me, something that has been knitted by hand has soul. The crafter has spent hours (and hours and hours....) creating and with each deft move of the kneedles, a little piece of love is knitted in as well. Having said that, I enjoy knitting but only in small doses. I like to feel that I'm getting somewhere and fast. I call it a short attention span. Is that you too?

Here's the perfect pattern for those who want to knit a project over the weekend and walk away saying to themselves "I did that"! Simple and stylish knitted coasters in cotton inspired by vintage French linens with their faded red or blue stripes and beige backgrounds

We've also made a video on how to knit the simple Chinese Wave stitch. Make sure you check it out and we would appreciate your feedback! We're venturing into producing more videos because it's another fun creative outlet for us

i'm loving right now: in the garden

I'm-loving-right-now-in-the-garden

Do you have a green thumb? Or are weeds the only green that grows under your guise? Now that we've moved into our new house, I finally have a herb garden that I had been lusting over for years. I have to say, it's looking quite sad at the moment. There's something eating my salad greens and it's not the possums. When I figure out who the freeloader is, most probably some grubs, I can go about rejuvenating my patch of lettuces, sage, basil, chilies and a lemon tree. Will post photos when all has been restored

In the meantime, here's some inspiration to tempt the taste buds...
