How-to-make-Egg-shell-candles

I have to admit, I'm a recent candle convert. I've been turned off by many store bought candles as they're usually waaaay too stinky for my nose. So I decided to make my own and how cute are these wee egg shell candles? You just need a few basics; soy wax flakes (or old candles), tempered wicks, hot glue gun, eggs, skewers

How to make your egg shell candles:
1. Carefully break your eggs, trying to make a clean break as humanly possible and make an omelet with the insides. I used a dremmel to carefully cut my shells after blowing out the insides. Gently boil water in a saucepan with a tablespoon of vinegar to kill any bacteria
2. With a hot glue gun, glue tempered wicks into the base of the shell. I used the empty egg carton to stabilise the shells. Use wooden skewers to keep the wicks upright and centred
3. Melt some soy wax flakes or old candles over a double boiler. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for fragrance. When wax has melted, carefully pour into shells and leave to congeal for about 10 minutes
