Why can't animals enjoy Easter too? I designed these images a few years ago for fun and forgot about them. Who puts cute, fluffy babies in the corner? Well, me. Here they live another day

I hope you have a fabulous Easter and thank you so much for reading my blog, I really appreciate it! x Cate

{go make me} how to make gold bullion easter eggs / diy project

Gold-bullion-easter-eggs

Have you heard about the goose that laid the golden eggs? Now you make your own gold bullion eggs without the need for poultry (and thousands of dollars!). Here's how:

Boil or blow-out egg internals. Use a 3 dimensional paint (I used 'Pebeo Touch Deco') to spell Fine Gold and Gold 999.9 and let dry. Create holes at either end and insert a long wooden skewer through egg. Use an upturned empty egg container and insert egg/skewer into the base. Create a 'spray booth' by using a large box. Spray a light coat of gold metallic paint and don't forget to use a face mask.  Let dry and repeat

Here are some other Easter projects: Make Easter Bunny Egg Cozies and Knitted Egg Beanies
On the hunt for more gold? Spray honey jars with gold paint, see the project here

{go make me} sassy knitted beanies for fresh eggs / diy project

Beanies-to-keep-your-egg-heads-warm

Fresh eggs (those seductive ovals of yumminess) are delicious when served in an egg cup with soldiers and kept toasty warm under a woollen beanie. Of course you can draw faces on the shell with an indelible marker but I don't believe it's that appetising after a lobotomy. It took me about 30 minutes to knit a beanie which included a trip to the kitchen to put on the dishwasher. See after the break for knitting instructions

You're-looking-fresh

The faces were inspired by a children's book '365 Animal Stories' published in 1968 (see below) featuring illustrators Porter G, Hilda Offen, Pradera, Esme Eve, Alan Jesset and Richard Hooke. It's one of my favourite books and the illustration styles are still current today

{go make me} strawberry ice cream with coconut crumble & berry coulis / recipe

Strawberry-Ice-Cream-with-berry-coulis-and-coconut-crumble

Luscious, freshly churned strawberry ice cream doused in coconut crumble, drizzled with a tart berry coulis and dressed with slithered almonds. Can someone sign me up for The Biggest Loser right now?

I think I've developed a thing for ice cream recently. To me there's such a fascination transforming a creamy liquid custard into a smooth icy treat as the ice cream maker churns its magic. I have made Strawberry Ice Cream before and the recipe is here

If you're looking for a really easy dessert to make this weekend, this might be the answer. You can easily substitute store bought ice cream but if you would like to make it instead, the recipe is at the end of this post

Strawberries-in-a-bowl

Summer may be officially over in Australia but the temperature hit 31oC (87oF) today and, silly me, I decide to photograph ice cream. A beautifully formed scoop turned into mush in less than 5 minutes and devoured in 2!
