marni, how I love thee....

If you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas, go get what you do want! My absolute favourite fashion designer would have to be Marni. It's the inner graphic designer in me that lusts after the feminine and graphic designs that Consuelo Castiglioni so elegantly combines into statement pieces (above pics are from various collections). Grabbing a bargain on Ebay, I managed to snare not one, but two, sets of Marni shoes (below) as a Christmas gift to myself. These heels are so high they launch me into the nether regions of the outer atmosphere. But who cares, they're gorgeous! So Santa was very good to me. Very good. Hope you received what you wanted too, if not, you know what to do

new year, sore head....Sydney knows how to party!

Yes, it's true, I'm not well. Too much fun bringing in the new year and definitely not feeling chipper this morning.  We were fortunate to witness the Sydney NYE fireworks from an apartment on the harbour. Situated right in the guts of the ear-splitting extravaganza where the explosions seem to rip right through your chest. Arguably the best display yet although my vision was slightly impaired by the Pom Pom cocktails that went down way too easily (300ml Pomegranate Juice, 200g Berry Sorbet, 150ml Vodka. The hub-bub from the crowd is always electric. Campers in tents, kids in trees and picnickers on the grass. Such an amazing atmosphere to witness with throngs of people along the foreshore from every available vantage point. The time lapse below shows revelers well established in their secured position early in the evening and some camping more than 24 hours beforehand. It was an amazing scene

I tried my hand at making pizzas for the first time. It was so easy! Of course, everyone ate more than they really should but how can you resist those yeasty aromas? Below is a simple dough mix topped with garlic, olive oil, pink river salt and rosemary and baked on a pizza stone in a very hot oven. Perfect with Caramalised Onion and Hommus dip
